Rational No. = Q:

 Q = (x| x = a/b): b ≠ 0 & a and b are integers

Significant Figures

  • Digits in a number that are known with certainty plus the first digit that is uncertain.
  • All nonzero figures are significant. All zeroes between nonzero figures are significant.
  • Zero to the right of nonzero figure, but to the left of an understood decimal point are not significant unless specially indicated.
  • All zeros to the right of a decimal point but to the left of a nonzero figure are not significant.
  • All zeros to the right of a decimal point and following nonzero figure are significant.

Rounding: Solution should be rounded to total amount of significant figures m place value.

Scientific Notation: 1 ≤ a < 10: a x 10n

Error:

  • Absolute Error: Actual difference between the observed and accepted values; Ea =|O-A|.
  • Relative Error: Absolute Error / True Value.
  • Percentage Error: Relative Error * 100.
  • Computation Error: To work out the effect of the errors is to find the minimum, maximum, and the true value.
