Impro

It’s almost time for another impro show. This one will be under the theme ‘Aussie Icons’, which means I have to come up with some sort of costume before 7pm Sunday (I’m thinking either sport-related or getting three other people to join me as The Wiggles).

We’ll be in ‘The Studio’ in the Street Theatre this month, which only seats about 80 people, so be sure to get there early if you want a good seat (Unfortunately there’s some complicated set on the main stage which we can’t really work around).

Anyway, it should be a fun show with random teams lots of Australia gags, so I’d encourage everyone to come along.

Our last show for 2005 was a lot of fun, even if I really didn’t get to spend much time on stage. Unfortunately our second scene (an alphabet) fell rather flat and we didn’t manage to pull it back enough to make it through to the fourth round (in spite of a couple of hear wrenching moments involving scoring mistakes).

Our first was a pretty decent word at a time story, and third was a pretty good puppets scene which I unfortunately got myself kicked out of for saying Christmas about 20 seconds in. Even if our team didn’t pull off anything spectacular, there were some really good scenes, and some really random judging to go with them.

I did take my camera along with the best of intentions, but ended up without any photos of the show. We really need to organise to have an official photographer in the front row sometime. Anyway, noting much else to say. Thanks to the rest of my team, Richard, Alex and Irene, and to all the other players for making it a great night.

Yet another impro show. Same story as the last couple, 7:30pm at the Street Theatre, Sunday December 11th.

I’ve been meaning to write up something about the last show, but somehow hadn’t got to it until now.

No flyer yet, but we’ve got another impro show on the Sunday the 6th of November, once again at the Street Theatre here in Canberra. I’m very lucky to have Richard, who indirectly convinced me to try this whole impro thing to begin with, coming down from Sydney to play in my team for this show, so hopefully we’ll do well.

Oh, and ‘Whose line is it anyway’ seems to be back on TV again. Man I wish I had a PVR.

Our second show is coming up in a couple of weeks time, and it’s also the graduation show for a whole new stage 1 class, so it should be a lot of fun. The stage 2 class, which I will have finished by then, has been great, and hopefully I won’t crash and burn.

Anyway, Sunday October 2nd at 7:30 pm in the Street Theatre. $15/$12, and by the sounds of it they won’t be able to take cards, so it’s cash only.

There’s also a flyer included in the ‘rest of this entry’.
