iPhone simulator (aka Aspen) pinch
Just worked it out…You need to hold down option, then drag around one of the circles which appears (under your cursor, and in the opposite corner relate to the screen’s centre). The other moves in the opposite direction relative to the centre of the touchpad. If you hold down option and shift, you can move both circles together in the same direction (though I’m not sure what that’s for). What’s surprising is that I only now realise that you can’t pinch into a specific part of the screen (even on a real iPod touch), it always zooms into the centre.

You certainly can pinch to a specific spot on the real iphone - open up a picture and pinch on the side of it, it will zoom into that side rather than the center. You can watch this better if you just move one of your pinch fingers rather than both. Now, it’s possible this is just because the photo app is tracking the center of where the pinch started - but that’d be all you’d need for any app to do this…

Huh, right you are…I don’t know how I convinced myself that wasn’t the case before…

Hold option, then hold SHIFT to move the circles around the screen. Release shift, and pinch, which will zoom onto the specific area.
